Aaron Rodgers went 23-of-30 for 227 yards passing in the win at Lambeau Field, with two touchdown throws and one pick. Ryan Grant ran for 145 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries, while Greg Jennings and Donald Lee had TD catches.

The last time the Saints and Packers met was back in September 2006 in Green Bay. New Orleans came away with a 34-27 road win in that contest, covering the 1-point spread in the OVER result. Green Bay fans would prefer to remember the previous meeting, when the Packers throttled the Saints 52-3 at home (easily covering 3 points).

The Green Bay Packers will look decidedly different as they open up the 2008 regular season on Monday as long-time quarterback Brett Favre is gone and understudy Aaron Rodgers has the job.  Rodgers will get a real test of what it should be like as he opens up at home against NFC North rival Minnesota. It has been Favre at quarterback since 1992 so things will definitely be different on Monday. "It's been a difficult time the last few months as far as the attention I've gotten, but I think I'm ready for it.” Rodgers said, “I know it's going to be amped up once the season starts, I'm going to be scrutinized, but that's the job of being an NFL quarterback." SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Packers at Home.

Rodgers has a lot of weapons at his disposal.  Receivers Donald Driver and Greg Jennings had more than 900 yards last season and running back Ryan Grant finished the season spectacularly.  Green Bay also had a defense that was superb, allowing only 18.2 points per game last season, second in the NFC. "I think we're going to be tough to run on, tough to pass on," defensive tackle Ryan Pickett said. "I think we'll be a top defense in the NFL."

This NFC Championship game – one of the final three of this NFL betting season – offers much to excite both the football betting fan in you, and the little kid still inside that just loves to see a good battle. If called correctly, favre should be able to hit his playmakers on the outside and this will give them at least the opportunity to do what they have done better than any other team this season: gain yards after the catch.

NFC Championship Game: Sunday, January 20 at 6:30 p.m. EST

Ryan Grant is the running game for the Packers and he will not be nearly so nervous as he was last week, when he fumbled twice in the first few minutes and allowed the Hawks to get off to an early 14-0 start. While the coaching staff could have sat him for a while to cool him down, they did not, and it may have been the best decision they have made all year, as Grant motored to a 201-yard day from that point on – a Packers post-season record.

The Packers will use Grant on stretch plays and inside zone runs to keep the New York defense honest. The offensive line has done a good job of creating holes for Grant and he has taken full advantage on most occasions. Look for the Giants to employ run dogs with their linebackers on running downs in an effort to disrupt any flow the Packers will be trying to establish in the running game.

The resurgence of Favre against that of his friend, and New York standout DE, Michael Strahan should be one of the more entertaining matchups we fans of the game can imagine watching. Whoever wins the battle should win the game, and whoever wins this game will cover the touchdown spread. Enjoy.

The Seattle defense showed last week that they are the main reason why the Seahawks were able to win the weakest division in football and make it to the second round of the playoffs, but what can their offense do to help them win on the road at Lambeau Field, where quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and coach Mike Holmgren are old, familiar faces? The Seahawks offensive line must be at the top of their game this weekend if they are going to be able to even come close to replicating the success they had last week against a Redskins defensive line that is not nearly as good as what they will face from the Packers. Look for the Hawks to run at DE Gbaja-Biamila to take advantage to his relative lack of physicality at the point of attack. For the Seahawks to be successful on the ground, they will have to give Morris more touches, as he is playing much more physical and faster than his starting counterpart. It appears, however, as if the Seattle play callers are unaware of this fact.

Hasselbeck has been playing very good ball, but will need a running game if he is going to be able to beat the Packers with his play actions, something he excels at when given the opportunity. He and his O-line will have to use the silent count to perfection if they are to negate somewhat the home-field advantage had by the Packers.

Those of us who bet on the NFL know that eight points is a lot to cover, especially when you get to this level of the postseason. If you take Seattle, you must be convinced that Shaun Alexander is going to start playing like he cares again, and he could; he has proven that in the past. Although there is never a sure thing in football betting, one thing you can be sure of is that you’ll win big if you guess right on Alexander this Saturday.
